Product Description

The CTvideo 3M series by Optris integrates non-contact temperature monitoring in industrial settings with video surveillance, ideal for scenarios where direct contact is impractical. Featuring integrated video sighting, these pyrometers facilitate precise aiming, especially in challenging environments or at extreme temperatures. The parallel use of video sighting and red laser crosshair simplifies sensor alignment, streamlining setup processes for efficient and accurate measurements.

Designed for fixed installations, the CTvideo 3M ensures consistent and accurate temperature measurement of metallic surfaces, metal oxides, and ceramics. The pyrometers short measuring wavelength enables accuracy across various materials. Equipped with a cross laser, the infrared sensor offers precise marking of the measuring spot, enhancing measurement accuracy. With temperature ranges from 50 °C to 350 °C (122 °F to 662 °F) (3ML) and 100 °C to 600 °C (212 °F to 1112 °F) (3MH) and response times as low as 20 ms, this infrared thermometer suits diverse industrial applications.

The optical resolution of the pyrometer varies depending on the model. In the 3ML version, the optical resolution, measured at 90% energy, is 60:1. The 3MH model offers a higher optical resolution of 100:1, providing even finer resolution.

A CTvideo pyrometer features a two-piece design. The electronics box offers advanced signal processing flexibility with a wide range of analog and digital outputs, including 0/4-20 mA, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, thermocouple, and USB.

The CTvideo series stands out with its exceptional optical resolution and manual focusable optical, ensuring high-resolution temperature data. The vario-optics allow smooth focusing to the desired distance, providing flexibility in application. Available in two versions, standard focus (SF) and close focus (CF), these sensors offer versatile solutions for different measurement needs.

With system accuracy of ±0.3% of reading + 2 °C / (±0.3 % of reading + 3.6 °F) and repeatability of ±0.1% of reading + 1 °C / (±0.1 % of reading + 1.8 °F), the CTvideo pyrometer delivers reliable temperature measurements.

Software

The Optris CompactConnect software improves the functionalities of Optris fixed infrared pyrometers, offering various monitoring, analysis, and control features beyond basic temperature measurement. It includes features like visualizing temperature trends with temperature-time diagrams and documentation. The software enables data logging, automatic process controls, parameterization of the pyrometer via configuration settings, and setting up programmable outputs and inputs. Additionally, it provides advanced signal-processing functionalities. Compact Connect The Optris IR mobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared cameras field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared cameras live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go). Google Play

    FAQs

Does the CTvideo support an open collector output?

Yes, an additional open collector output is supported. The open collector output is an additional alarm output.

How far can I position the CTvideo from the target?

The measuring object’s size and the infrared thermometers optical resolution determine the maximum distance between the sensing head and the measuring object. The object should fill out the optics’ field of view to prevent measuring deviations. Consequently, the spot should always be at least the same size as the object or smaller. The spot size refers to 90% of the radiation energy.

How do I focus the CTvideo?

The vario optics of the CTvideo allows a smooth focusing of the optics to the desired distance. On the back plane of the sensor you will find a rotary button for focusing of the optics. By turning the rotary button clockwise you will change the focus in direction far. By turning counterclockwise you will change the focus in direction close.

How do I aim with a CTvideo?

The CTvideo has an integrated video camera which is using the same optical channel than the IR detector. In addition, the sensor has a cross laser aiming which marks the center of the measurement spot at any distance. The combination of video and laser sighting enables a perfect alignment of the sensor to the object. The integrated laser sighting supports the alignment and focusing of the optics. The position of the measurement spot is indicated by a circle inside the video picture.

    Is the laser dangerous?

The pyrometers laser is a class 2 laser with less than 1mW in the wavelength range of 500 nm to 650 nm, according to EN 60825 1:2014. Do not point the laser directly at the eyes of persons or animals! Do not stare into the laser beam. Avoid indirect exposure via reflective surfaces.

    The laser switched off?

At ambient temperatures >50 °C (>122 °F) the laser will be switched off automatically. The laser should only be used for sighting and positioning of the sensor. A permanent use of the laser can reduce the lifetime of the laser diodes and might heat up the sensor.

Can I trigger the laser externally?

Yes, but the supply line for the sighting laser must be led via a switch or pushbutton, which has to be installed max 2 m (6.6 ft) away from installation site of the sensor for safety purposes. The laser can be activated/ deactivated via this, by the user on site to be installed switch, or via the software.
